Comfort Line -The Window Man, Fairfax Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland

"Windows made for the real world"

Fiberglass Windows

History
Comfort Line has manufactured and supplied windows and patio doors for the building products industry since 1959. In 1964 Comfort Line pioneered the use of vinyl for storm windows and storm door fabrication. Pultrusions technology revolutionized the window industry again in 1988.

This window system provides the best of both worlds: a frame and sash constructed of pultrusions fiberglass with real oak veneer applied to the interior.

Our fiberglass windows are indestructible by the elements. With beauty and comfort in mind, we have taken fiberglass of superior strength and designed a window system that offers a lifetime of maintenance free operation.

Comfort Line continues it strong tradition of excellence in design as well as in product innovation, adding new concepts to windows and doors in the fiberglass and vinyl fenestration products.

Features:

  • 3-1/4" Frame depths - Perfect for replacement jobs. With addition of nail fins and extension jambs, ideally suited for new construction jobs.

  • Stepped, sloped sash design - Provides for water run off and utilizes exceptionally weathertight foam weather-stripping.

  • All mitered Sash Design - Provides extra strength and gives sash a traditional appearance.

  • 7/8" Insulated Glass - Built with Double Strength gl;adss and thermally improved "Intercept" spacers for energy efficiency. Select Low-E glass with Argon Gas, or HR-10 glass with krypton gas to further elevate performance.

  • Drop-In Exterior Glazing with snap in glass bead - Provides an esthetically pleasing appearance and virtually eliminates water penetration.

  • Integral Interlock - Provides extra strength and blocks air infiltration at the meeting rails.

  • Fully Weather-Stripped Sash Perimeter - Fin/Pile and q-lon foam weather-stripping together reduces air infiltration and enhances energy efficiency.

  • Easy Clean, Tilt-In Sash - No need to get the ladder out. both sashes tilt in for safe easy cleaning from inside.
  • Pultrusion technology - Used to produce our Fiber Frame TM  lineals which will not split, splinter, warp, swell or bow.
  • Fiber FrameTM lineals - Thermally nonconductive.  These lineals have relatively the same coefficients of expansion and contraction as insulated glass.
  • The result is an energy efficient, virtually indestructible framing material offering maximum strength and stability, piece after piece.
  • Optional real stainable oak interior
  • Optional Muntin Bars-colonial or diamond.
  • Optional customized V-groove glass and elegant bencil brass grids.
  • Optional custom colors matched to your specifications.

Additional Features:

Comparison of Fiberglass to other Materials and Their Performance
Fiberglass is the best choice for framing material. It is a good insulator, requires minimal maintenance, is lightweight and doesn't rot.

The following is a comparison of different framing materials available:

What is a fiberglass composite product?

Pultrusion is the process used to produce continuous lengths of strong, fiberglass composite products having a constant cross section. Products manufactured using this technology include window framing material , rods, structural shapes, beams, channels, pipe, tubing etc.

The manufacturing process works as follows: Continuous strands of fiberglass rovings and fiberglass mats are impregnated with resin, then drawn through a steel die which sets the shape of the stock. A portion of the die is heated to initiate the cure. The end product is a Thermoset Fiberglass Composite. Very high strengths are possible due to high glass concentration and orientation of fiberglass rovings and mats parallel and perpendicular to the length of the material being drawn through the die.

Thermoset - Heat is generally used to cause a chemical reaction which sets the shape of the part permanently. Once the materials are cured they cannot be reformed: the process is irreversible.
